Photography
One disposable. One walk. The whole roll. Lab scans.

What it is
Photography as a hobby is making still pictures on purpose — not the ones already on your phone. The cleanest first contact is a roll of film you cannot preview. You shoot, you wait for a lab, you get scans. 24 or 36 frames, then you are done.
Why people stay
Waiting edits you. You stop taking twelve versions of the same doorway. People stay for the scans of a walk they already took, not for a camera collection. A disposable or a used point-and-shoot is enough to learn whether you like the wait.
Try this week
The first try
Buy a disposable 35mm camera. Shoot the whole roll on one walk. Pay for lab scans. Do not buy a Leica.

What you actually need
Two or three beginner things, with estimated cost bands. Placeholder. Affiliate destinations land later. This is not a live product link.
Est. $12–25 disposable / $40–80 used
Disposable or used point-and-shoot
A disposable is the cleanest first try. A used point-and-shoot is next if you already know you will shoot a second roll.

One roll of 400-speed color film
400-speed color works outdoors without thinking. A disposable usually has this already loaded.

Lab scans
Pay a lab to develop and scan. Home developing is a different hobby. Ask for standard-resolution scans, not a poster print.

Photography’s real on-ramp is a disposable camera, one walk, and lab scans — not a Leica, and not another folder of phone photos.
